External Folder Sync for Joplin
Bidirectional synchronization between Joplin notebooks and external directories of markdown files.
⚠️ Caution: Backups recommended. Always maintain independent backups of your Joplin notebooks and directory files. This plugin modifies, synchronizes, and moves deleted files to trash automatically. Use at your own risk.
Features
- Link an entire Joplin notebook to an external directory on disk.
- Automatically synchronizes notes as individual
.mdfiles with YAML frontmatter. - Creates new Joplin notes when new markdown files are added to the directory.
- Updates existing notes or files based on 3-way hash tracking and modification timestamps.
- Moves deleted files to a
.trashfolder inside the directory to prevent accidental data loss. - Visual indicator: Appends
🔗to the notebook title when linked. - Notebook context menu: Right-click any notebook to access the External Folder Sync... dialog.
Usage
- Right-click any notebook in the sidebar and select External Folder Sync....
- Choose an external directory to link to the notebook.
- Notes in the notebook and markdown files in the folder will synchronize automatically.
