External File Sync for Joplin
Bidirectional synchronization between Joplin notes and external markdown files on disk.
⚠️ Caution: Backups recommended. Always maintain independent backups of your Joplin notes and files. This plugin modifies and synchronizes files directly on disk. Use at your own risk.
Features
- Link individual Joplin notes to external files on your file system (
.md,.txt). - Bidirectional updates based on modification timestamps and SHA-256 hashes:
- Updates the Joplin note if the external file is modified.
- Exports to the external file if the Joplin note is edited.
- Visual status tag: Adds a
🔗tag to linked notes in Joplin. - Context menu integration: Right-click any note in the note list to view status, unlink, or sync immediately.
- Automatic sync on note selection switch and debounced sync on content changes.
Usage
- Right-click a note in the note list and select External File Sync....
- Select an external markdown file on disk to link.
- The note and external file will now stay synchronized.
