How we protect your privacy with Joplin Cloud AI

· 2 Minuten Lesezeit

Joplin Cloud AI features work on your notes. Notes are often personal, so we've set up the AI service so that your content goes to as few places as possible and stays there for as short a time as possible.

A European AI provider, processing in Europe. Joplin Cloud AI uses models from Mistral AI, a French company. We send requests to Mistral's EU regional endpoint, which processes data only in data centres in the European Union and EFTA countries. Your notes are not sent to the United States for processing.

Zero Data Retention. Mistral has enabled Zero Data Retention on our account. Once a response has been generated, Mistral doesn't store or log the content of the request or the response. Only basic billing information, such as how many tokens were used, is kept.

No training on your notes. Your content isn't used to train or improve AI models. Mistral's commercial terms rule this out for our account, and training is switched off in our account settings.

GDPR. Our use of Mistral is covered by their Data Processing Addendum, which sets out how they may handle personal data on our behalf under the GDPR.

What Joplin Cloud stores. Our own servers don't keep the text you send to the AI or the replies you get back. For each request we only record who made it, which model was used, how many tokens it used and whether it succeeded. We need this to apply usage limits and keep track of costs.
